DECATUR, GA -- Sycamore Place Gallery and Studios in Decatur presents "HEADS," an exhibition of artworks by Cecelia Kane, from Saturday, September 8th through Sunday, September 30th. The opening reception will be on Saturday, September 8 from 7:00pm-10:00pm. There will be a performance of original music by Lucky Stray at 8:30pm in the gallery courtyard.

Cecelia Kane has created fabric and leather creatures, drawings and hoods to address the subject of decapitation. Ms Kane provides pillows as resting places for the heads of Nick Berg and Daniel Pearl, two American Jews decapitated in Iraq and Pakistan respectively.

Cecelia Kane is a visual and performance artist who lives and creates in Atlanta, GA and shows her work locally and nationally. She describes her art as the manifestation of her search for meaning in the face of death. Lately her work explores the nature of power and violence in contemporary world events through the traditionally feminine province of fabric, clothing and sewing.

The folk/jazz storytellers of Lucky Stray, who will perform outside during the opening reception, are the Atlanta duo -- The Cheshire Herself and Mr. Amazing Lizardo.

Sycamore Place Gallery and Studios is located in Decatur across from Carpe Diem restaurant.
